Ready, Steady,Go!

A simplified version of Homestuck.

4 kids who became friends online start playing a game called “Sburb” out of curiosity.

But that game turns out to be a doomsday device that destroys their world, and the only way for them to survive is to create a new world where they could live on. (and so beating the game)

After a while the players of the game session that created the humans’ world start talking to them. Those kids turn out to be aliens known as trolls. (grey skin, orange horns)

There’s also 3 big baddies in the story:

- Lord English, a demon who exits outside of time itself

- The evil empress of the trolls (who poses as Betty Crocker in the humans’ world)

- And a guy called Jack Noir, who gains extreme power through a game gimmick and goes nuts

There are also 2 kingdoms within the game, where people are like the black and white chess pieces. Jack Noir is like a black chess piece.

The comic also has a bunch of purposely terrible jokes and movie references.

The storytelling in the comic is meant to be a parody of video games, so everything the characters do is described like game commands. Also it’s written in 2nd person as if you, the reader were playing as the characters.

And the whole thing is made to look like it was drawn in MS Paint.

The artwork starts off as seemingly boring and uninteresting
but gets progressively more colorful as the plot gets more intense
Also the author, Andrew Hussie drew himself into the comic as well.
(It’s actually funny. No really.)
EDIT: I had a logic fail in this when I original wrote that the comic is in “1st person” when it’s actually in 2nd person. (sorry)
And then I completely forgot about this post for months…
